2003 Ohio University Seabury Quinn Jr. Playwrights’ Festival

Guest Mentors

Carson BeckerCarson Becker has been a Resident Playwright since 1994 with Chicago Dramatists, which produced her play Book of Mercy last fall. Ms. Becker currently is writing a new play about Lewis and Clark, commissioned by the Nebraska Repertory Theatre for production in 2004. In collaboration with David Barr III, Ms. Becker was awarded the Ofner Prize from the Goodman Theatre for By the Music of the Spheres, which the Goodman produced in February, 2003. A Mislaid Heaven won a Jeff Award for New Work for its 1998 production at Famous Door Theatre, and was produced in 2001 at The Road Theatre in Los Angeles. Ms. Becker received an Illinois Arts Council Playwriting Fellowship and an M.F.A. in Playwriting from the University of Iowa.

Russell DavisRussell Davis’ plays have been produced at various theaters, including People’s Light & Theatre, Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Yale Repertory, and Long Wharf.  He was resident playwright at People’s Light for the Theatre Residency Program of the National Endowment for the Arts/Theatre Communications Group.  He was a recipient of a 2008-10 Pew Fellowship in the Arts and has received playwright fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, McKnight Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts, New York Council on the Arts, and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.  He is also a juggler.
